Giving the new Demon Hunter album a listen. Of course it’s nowhere near as good as the first album was, but I will say this one is better than The World Is a Thorn. My biggest complaint is how the band sounds now. The guitars sound compressed as hell. There is no low end whatsoever. The drumming just comes across as mechanical. And Ryan’s vocals just sound processed.
Interestingly enough, the album starts off with a little punk groove. The second song has an atrocious breakdown at the end of the song. The third song has an interesting intro, but then turns into a generic mess. Fourth song is the obligatory power ballad. And the rest of the album is just uninspired Meshuggah riffs. I thought I could get through the whole thing but I just can’t do it.
